Poem – Blinded by the light

Walking down the halls of silence
Broken by your immaculate scream
The trust I had not recognised
Living in this dream
I won’t live in yesterday
Our world I don’t recognise
Back to the world of self regret
Seen through solitary eyes

Gossip on the wind tonight
Tells of truth that came undone
Hopes and dreams burnt to a cinder
And I’m the fortunate one?
Looking up through murky waters
I see the blur of pain
Despair protects me in my sanctum
Even underwater it can rain

Everyday lives through my head
The words we said were this
Eternity is ours to define
The wind will be our kiss
I have travelled full circle
I have returned back home
There is no ribbon around my burnt charred tree
Just ashes where I must roam

I will try to not stay blind
I will look up towards the sun
Pupils blinded by rays of hope
The war has just begun
The battlefield of my life goes on
I live in no man’s land
Those who have fallen on their fallen sword
I will not ever leave their hand
