My Immortal Year (Poem)

immortality

Clouded visions before me under a crimson river red
Wounds so deep the knife it broke, just echoes in my head
A distant cry of laughter, then repeated blows so harsh
Discarded love of loyalty strangled by your scarf
My eyes begin to close now; I’m drifting off to sleep
Crawling to a darkened hole, the hole inside so deep
I gave my trust and heart to you, yet you played your game
Picked the moment to break my soul, saying I was to blame
Darkness closed around me, the wind blew through my skin
Yet you failed to remember one last point, there is a heart within
My name erased from your mortal soul, discarded to the breeze
You told tales of victory of how you put me on my knees
But the seasons were my medicine, the hurt began to heal
Brought back to life with internal pride, life once more I could feel
The days turned to months and soon my mind was clear
Free from emotions and guilt, the pain it went away
Life flowed through my veins once more, I lived another day
The light replaced the darkness; I came out to the sun
Found a new heart calling me, this truly was the one
No place for retribution, no room for remorse
Set sail for a new horizon, destiny the course
I look back over my shoulder and see you’re in despair
Your friends that laughed at my downfall, left without a care
Dreams that you once shattered, appear now bright and clear
Thank you for the fate you gave to me
My Immortal year
