Leaving a Legacy: How Love and Kindness Outlast Material Possessions (Poem)

death in pride

When our time on earth is done,

And our race has finally run,

Our fortunes and our gold,

Will be but dust, stories old.

The possessions we held so tight,

And when the dark replaces the light,

Will fade into the past,

Nothing more than shadows cast.

But the love we gain we gave away,

And the kindness we did dsiplay,

Will echo on forevermore,

Long after life has closed the door.

The memories we leave behind,

And the footprints that we’ve designed,

Will be felt by those we love,

As they look up to the stars above.

For when our time on earth is through,

The love we gave will shine anew,

And in the hearts of those we leave,

An eternal kiss upon a sleeve

So let us live with open hearts,

And make each day a work of art,

For when our time on earth is done,

Only love and kindness will have won.
