The love of home (New Poem)

home

To some just four walls and a roof
For me you’re my abode
A shell entwined in history
My sanctuary owned
A shelter from the storms of life
The playhouse in the rain
A haven to a higher world
The spiral so insane
Lessons so invaluable
I learned within these walls
The laughter of humanity
The cries from life’s cruel falls
Echoes from yesteryear
Chime around the room
Voices that have long departed
Lift me from the gloom
The years they pass too quickly
Some memories will cease
Yet the welcome guarantee you give
Is my homely inner peace
