Reflection in Rejection

Take me into your heart
Entwine me with your soul
Invite to the table where you eat
A place for family and kin to meet

Dropped from the highest height
When my soul was full of love
Were mistakes made that I was unaware
Did our hand not fit like a glove?

Slammed from the highest heights
Replaced by someone or other
Did they give you something I could not?
Or one thing or another.

My seat at the table
Replaced by your reflection
A perfect soul in your eyes
An imprint of rejection

Changing your mind is fine
It made me realise who I was
Not seeking answers to questions
About who, or why or was

I see you what you are posting
Not that I am looking
You crushed the moments that we had
Now, who is over-looking?

Everything I wanted
I claim to what I own
You ripped the seat from under me
Now I gaze upon my throne

For who we were and what we are
Is a solitary tale of sorrow
My smile raised like a rainbow
Today begins tomorrow
