Peace of Mind – Poem

Baron and dark times are ahead of us
Death once more rears its ugly head
A blackened cloud swarming over land
Scraping up the dead

Nations rise and nations fall
Thats the history of war
Pointless excuses that mean nothing to me
I seem to have heard this all before

I hoped and prayed in 99
That the new millennium would bring peace
The hope lasted a matter of seconds
Violence seems to never cease

If the world were a 24 hour clock
Mankind entered with 5 seconds to spare
Yet in that brief and utter short period
They destroyed the world without a care

Pollution, famine, disease and war
Mankind is all to blame
If something did create this world
Do they hang there head in shame?

When I gaze into a childs eyes
I see hope surrounded by fear
The hope is getting smaller
Year by year by year

If we are to leave our children anything
Lets leave a legacy
We need to look at what love means
Its the only way to be.
