Open Road – New Poem

Open Road

A sacrifice of happiness

To please those who don’t care

Unselfishly acting the fool

Yet so unaware

Some believe in Karma

What we sow we reap

But fate seems to just keep me down

This mountain oh so steep

Time for new beginnings

I want a happy me

Instead of love not returned

For all eternity

I’ve danced amongst the shadows

Pretending to myself

That everything is just perfect

My heart upon a shelf

Excuse me for being selfish

But that’s how I want to live

For my life begins here and now

I have learned to forgive
