New tomorrow – Poem about moving on

a-new-day1

A road that we once walked as two
Now I tread alone
The trees that once we sat under
Now just overgrown
A flame you lit burn deep
Now the fire is out
I used to whisper in your ear
Now all I do is shout
Did you ever love me
Was there a tomorrow?
I placed my heart into your hands
You moulded it with sorrow
The pain made me who I am
I no longer think of the past
Your ship adrift on a wicked ocean
Without sail or mast
A knife deep in my heart
But it did not cut so deep
I breathe to live another day
No longer shall I weep
