Making a change in life

In life, I realise there are two types of people. Those with their feet nailed to the floor and those whose wings are too large for the cage. What I mean is there are those who love the comforts of the small dwellings where they come from, the area they will always call home. Then there are those, like me, who find that the only home they have is the whole world that we live in.

Sometimes when we stay in one place for too long we get itchy feet, we gain a sense of normality that we are simply just not used to and that can be unusual and unnerving. There is always going to be a fundamental desire to go to another country no matter what is keeping us in a particular location.

If we meet someone along the way and he or she also yearn to travel with us, then that’s perfect. No lesson is greater in life than the knowledge of seeing the word through your own two eyes. No blog, journal, nor video can quite capture the experience of seeing a place yourself for the exact first time.

The first time I travelled alone overseas I felt like that exact bird whose wings had been clipped its entire life. I was allowed to soar, to fly wherever I wanted and do whatever I wanted regardless of any form of parental control. That love still remains to this very day, there is always a burning desire to explore new places, see cultures for the first time and above all feel part of the bigger picture we call life.

Of course, life is never all sunshine and rainbows there will be storms that emerge in our plans and we must learn to ride with this wind. We need to plan life carefully as it can all be changed in an instant. For now, life is sweet but I know that the future is highly uncertain.

Therefore, I am going to change things around here. Life has become to boring, too stale and too mundane. Somewhere along the line I forgot who the real me is, and that is something that simply needs to change. The beauty, however, is when you have someone alongside you who is as adaptable in life’s approach then it makes it even more worthwhile.

Life does not change for you. Only you can make the change.
