I’m Still Here

Laughter fills the room energy
Glasses raised to the sky
Raucous cheers of happiness
The smiles fly

Talk amongst yourselves this day
Remind you of the times we shared
Only family and friends can recall
The times we loved and cared

Forgive me for not being there
I can’t make it as I cry
Sing a song for me
Even though we didn’t say goodbye

I hope you will remember me
In your busy life and ways
A gentle whisper of a past gone wind
From bygone better days

I hope you look back with pride
Forgive the wrongs I made
The offence was never in my veins
It’s a part of life I played

In the end, all I ask
Do you remember me from this day
Dust in the wind is what we are
Until we are blown away

My name may fade from time
Yet my melody will last
I write words on the sand
To be buried in the past

We never said goodbye
Nor bid a goodbye
Until our spirits meet my friend
My heart is in the sky
