I am currently sitting here trying to contemplate what to get my immediate family for Christmas. As I trawl through various websites trying to combat the upcoming postal deadline, I arrive at the realisation that shopping for presents certainly has changed.
I remember the days in the late nineties where I would meticulously plan what I would purchase for people. I would then plan my shopping route, and each and every year, I would get the presents that I wanted with little stress involved.
Of course, these days with the Internet we have never had so much access or variety when it comes to choosing presents. So why am I the only one that cannot find anything for those close to me? Maybe I missing seeing the gift in person before purchasing it, or perhaps the process of shopping online has just made me lazy? Also, I could easily order all year round but no, I have to leave it directly to the last minute. Not even guaranteeing that they may even get there in time for Christmas itself.
Whatever the reason I am now in the position where I have one night in order to get those that I love the most a gift. They say, “It’s the thought that counts”. I agree, it’s just the way that I have issues with.
