Take a long hard look in the mirror – Who are you?

Take a long hard look in the mirror. Go on.

What do you see?

Success? failure?, fate?, destiny?

Has life passed you by or are your dreams just beginning? Has life settled you into a routine or do you feel that there are still goals that you are destined to fulfil? Are you afraid of becoming a rock that will be remembered for all time or are you content to become a grain of sand on the beach of life?

Take a good long hard look in the mirror. Go On.

I know what I see. I see the most beautiful gift possible.

Life.

You see just being born is the ultimate gift that the human race has ever been gifted with. Now how old are you? A teenager? Twenties? Middle aged? Or are you in the prime of your life.

It simply does not matter.

We are all given the ultimate responsibility to make the most of what we have. I have seen so much in life to realise that we have the destiny to be anything that we want to be. We should never compare ourselves to others; we should not have to strive to match what our friends have. If they are more successful than us then let’s be happy for them, if they are less fortunate than us then we as individuals can help them become better people. We all have that gift.

When I was a child dreams were just something that flittered in and out of my life as often as I changed my clothes. Yet as I progressed into a teenager those dreams became hobbies, then in my twenties they became a goal. The goal is now becoming a reality and with more increased hard work my once childhood dreams will hopefully become my occupation. I write and like my friends there are those who are far more successful than me and there are those who are less successful than me. But I will strive to learn and I will aim to help.

I’ve changed from the teenager into a man into my thirties. My childhood idol was my father and he is now the man in his prime. One day I will have a son who will no doubt experience the same emotions and feelings.

Yet there have been times when I have been ashamed of my family, there have been times when I have been dependent on my family, yet throughout all the high and low times they have always stood by me, they have always supported me in following my goals and as each generation disappears into grains of sand I strive to not only honour their memory but to make my work become my financial safety for the next generation.

Families are like veins running through are very bodies; they are part of us just as we are part of them. So no matter what they have done without them I simply would not exist. So it’s my proud and ultimate honour to dedicate all the work I do to them. Friends, they come and go but we as individuals and family are bonded with us for life.

Take a long hard look in the mirror. Go on.

What do you see?

I see a person who has the ultimate gift in life. Your very existence.

No matter who you are, no matter where you are. You owe it to yourself to make your life the best it can be.

What are you waiting for?
