RIP BATCH

Brought together as strangers
On that first day that we met
King Edmunds was our playground
The trees our football net

Neither of us was that good
We could hardly kick a ball
But the love we shared for footy
Made us friends and all

City was your passion
You liked a little blue
Not Rovers that’s for certain
But Chelsea was part of you

We grew up through the ages
Got taller every year
We had some funny haircuts
Your curtains made me fear!

Our own ways we soon took
The paths that we call life
We danced a hundred dances
Until the last dance with the wife

We found the love ofThatchers
Gold and not the Maggie
Our hair became less
The eyes soon were saggy

Through it all, we laughed
Through the sunshine and the rain
The lines adorned our foreheads
Our souls absorbed the pain

Your courage gave us thought
As you battled through your days
We stopped to think of what life meant
In our endless rat run ways

You don’t have to be a hero
To Leave a legacy
You did that in your way
A legend for eternity

You gave us everything Batch
The laughter and the tears
You will remain in our hearts and minds
For all eternal years

So we raise a glass to you
Your playground in the sky
Get your head on that ball son
We wipe a tear from our eye

Watch over us now Marcus
For we will see you soon one day
Until then we smile at you
In every special way
