Poem – Fallen Star

Let me try and soften the blow
With what I’m about to say
Emotional damage was easy for you
That was just your way
Caught up in our war of words
A battlefield lies between our souls
A minefield full of memories
A heart just full of holes

Admist my pride and stuborness
Lies and truth were mixed
A shattered album of memories
Too broken to be fixed
Somehow we pick our selves up again
Once more from upon the cold hard floor
Why do we push our selves that one more round
Cannot we please just end this war?

Guilt and hurt are your two best friends
They remain always by your side
I tried to block them out of view
Yet they never seemed to hide
I battled alone against you all
Somehow I survived the war
Yet I sit her stunned and battlescared
What were we fighting for?

We drove each other to insanity
We forgot just who we are
From the start everyone said it would not last
Yet we had that shooting star
The brightness of our star had dwindled, faded into the night
Shot down from the heavenly skies above
Burnt out in midflight

I hope that you never think of me
As I’ll always think of you
Knowing that I’m not on your mind
Will always pull me through
Promise me one thing in life
Don’t put anyone else through that pain
I’d hate too see the walking wounded
Scarred by your love again

Let me try and soften the blow
With what I’m about to say
Emotional damage was easy for you
That was just your way
Caught up in our war of words
A battlefield lies between our souls
A minefield full of memories
A heart just full of holes
