Eternal Light – A poem for Athina

Walking through the path of life we are often in the dark
The eerie silence shattered by a solitary bark
Yet in you exists a candle, one that shines a light
Through all life’s tribulations, your flame it burns so bright
Grey skies provide a torrent, which can wash away the soul
You shield the rain from deep within, and keep me in control
The cold harsh winds blow on my face, feeling harsh and rough
Yet in your arms I feel content, your warmth is just enough
Even in times of distance, when your far apart from me
I hear your words you whisper to me, carried across the sea
Every day I wake to the world, embrace life under the sun
The heat of life warms my body, life has just begun
So as I walk life’s darkened path, I stride with all my might
Because in my guide I have you, my eternal shining light
