I’m only human – A poem about homelessness

I’m only human – A poem about homelessness

The world in which I live in

I don’t want to share

Where nobody knows who you are

Or Seldom seems to care

We all have our problems

Like what we’re going to eat

Yet my food I cannot purchase

Nor the socks that left my feet

Invisible to the world

Life just rushes by

Yet when the world is safe at home,

I’m homeless and I cry

My cup is lies so empty

All I long for is a meal

Yet the faces buried in their phones

Don’t know how I feel

The doorway is my pillow

Whilst you’re sleeping in your bed,

Nightmares I see daily

Whilst pleasant dreams rebound in your head,

So please just don’t ignore me

I won’t shout nor offend

For I am just the invisible man

Looking for a friend

Yes, for I am homeless

No roof above my head

A little goes a long way

Or I just may end up dead

So next time you are passing

Please, just say hello

Kindness is a gesture

That we all should know
