The first of September is not a day that many find a happy one. Children are preparing to go back to school, it is the end of a calendar summer and autumn has begun. Yet for me this day is purely magical.
From a very early age I have always had the best fortune in September, October and November. Maybe it’s coincidence, it could even be fate but nearly all of the major changes in my life have happened in these months. It is usually the last week of October and the beginning of November where this happens. Of course being Pagan it is a very big day on 31 October but maybe I am just lucky.
So as I awoke this morning I found that the air was a bit colder, the leaves were starting to turn into an autumnal rainbow and something in the air just seemed different. There is a certain chill that is neither unpleasant nor unwelcome, people seem to be clinging onto any remainder of summer but in all honesty we have not a decent summer for almost a decade now, despite the plethora of lies that the weathermen seem to tell about it being a ‘BBQ summer’
Autumn is truly a beautiful month. The colours are warm and vibrant that wipes out the blanket of green from the departing season. The landscape somehow becomes richer, the fruits and food seem riper and tastier and the countryside truly becomes alive.
I bid farewell to summer and embrace the most special time of the year, the time where magical moments are made and treasures are stored in ones mind for an eternity.
To Autumn I greet thee with an embrace of dreams.
