Wall Of Memories (Poem)

Wall Of Memories (Poem)

Eyes adorn a timeline
Of life that has gone by
Footprints that my heart has left
Eyes raised into the sky

Outlived so many lifelines
Who knew me as a child
I gaze into their memories
Bloodlines reconciled

Souls illuminated in childhood
To the newborns never seen
My aura in the middle
A lifetime so serene

The older that I grew
The more I had to live
At times I had excuses
Now I can’t forgive

Voices are hard to remember
Exact words stuck in my head
To unlock when I need them
Eternal love has spread

Days of thinking back
On the things that could have been
Reminiscent of the things I said
Or what my eyes have seen

Time it waits for no one
Vanishes in the twinkling of an eye
A life transformed to picture
Another soul passes by

The past cannot be changed
The future we can’t control
So I’ll live in the here and now
This same old childhood soul

The roots of those we meet in life
The foundations of our heart
Lifes often too busy to say the words
That cannot tear us apart

For those that have departed
To those who are yet to be
Our love entwines us forever
For all eternity
