The Last Goodbye

The Last Goodbye

If this is to be my final sleep,

Promise me you will not weep

After that, it’s up to you

To remember me when skies are blue

Even though I’m no longer here

Please be brave and have no fear

For the last battle is always lost

The gift of life, its ultimate cost

As you grow older, I’m watching you

From this moment on until it’s through

Don’t let grief stay in your heart

Even though we’re worlds apart

For now, I love you than ever before

I close the light on the last door

Names are whispers past in time

My bell now tolls its final chime

My boat sets sail, you’re on the shore

I’ll remain in your heart forever more

For when life is darkest, close your eyes

My arms will reach down from the skies

We’ve been so close so many years

Through the laughs, the pain and fears,

But one thing that is forever true

You’re part of me and I’m part of you

Alas, the time is here, my love

Been summoned up to skies above

One last whisper, one last kiss

Thank you, love. It was pure bliss.
