Deano 🇬🇧/🇸🇪 | Award-Winning & Bestselling Poet | Writer | Chelsea FC 1977 & Linköping FC 2011 | Books on Amazon | Pagan

The mud, it clings against its crimson stain, Acro The mud, it clings against its crimson stain,Across the field where the poppies reign.Barely just a teenager, a life so new and young,Now another casualty look what war has brung. The air grows still, the guns now cease,A softened wind, a whispered peace. He slumps amongst the fallen red,His last breaths leave his weary head.No more the screams, nor the cries of pain,Mere silence on the poppy plain. His fading eyes, they scan the scene,The poppies dance, his tranquil dream.A smile escapes his coldened lips,With life’s last breath, his spirit slips. The war is done, peace is here,His duty’s end, drowned in a tear.He sleeps among the fallen brave,Where he lies in a nameless grave. And in the breeze, the poppies sway,An eternal tribute to this day.

The Lion’s Heart Still Beats So it has happened The Lion’s Heart Still BeatsSo it has happened. Linköping FC are now down in Elitettan. A late goal in Malmö decided it. It feels heavy.I have followed football my whole life. Chelsea has been my club since childhood and I have been to hundreds of matches through the years. When I moved to Sweden fifteen years ago, I searched for a new football family. I lived in Norrköping and went to a few games, but my heart did not land there.Everything changed through a tweet to Lisa De Vanna. It became the beginning of a friendship that still continues today. Through her, I found Linköping FC, and in 2011 I stood at Folkungavallen for the first time, on a cold spring day, with a hot dog in my hand and the wind across the pitch. That is where I found my Swedish club.Over the years I have seen players like Asllani, Rolfö, Blackstenius, Harder and Eriksson grow into world stars. I have seen cup wins, league titles and magical Champions League nights. I travelled to Russia alone to watch the team. I even became a board member in 2021. An honour I still carry with pride. And now this. Relegation. Sadness. Emptiness. But also pride. Because the club has fought hard this season, both on and off the pitch. The players and staff have given everything. To the coach, stay if you can.To the players, thank you for every meter you ran.To the supporters, especially the flock, keep standing together. To Loben, you are still an icon. This is a dark day. But in Sweden I have learned that after rain comes rainbows. Linköping FC is more than a league table. It is people, memories and heart. The heart of this lion club continues to beat.Full article in the link in my bio. @linkopingfc
It's Not My Time To Go - A poem based on a person It's Not My Time To Go - A poem based on a person who is being called to the afterlife yet they know there are still unfinished things left in lifeAm I living in the dreamOr is the dream inside?I walk into the bright lightThere is no place to hide.I hear the rings of laughter,Voices that sound so new,Yet they are from a distant timeNow they call me too.Shadows step towards me,Familiar faces from the past;Relatives and friends who passed awayThey're calling me at last. They say the time has comeTo reunite once more.My time in life is overYet have I been here before? The hand, it opens to take me,Just like it did when I was young.Yet I know there are still things to do,Another song that must be sung.So I smile and say, "Not just yet,"For I still have things to do.My eyes open back in the roomAnd all I see is you.#poem #poetry #life #love #death #afterlife
Do not cry when I'm gone - a poem about rememberin Do not cry when I'm gone - a poem about remembering someone who has moved on but wanted you to live life with a smileWhen I am gone from life, don’t cry any tears. Forget the bad times that we shared; remember happy years. The cruel words that were spokenremove them from your mind. Embrace the words of love we shared, whispers of a loving kind. We had some hardened battles and days of endless fun. I wish we had more time from when life had begun. When I’m just a memory, do not dwell on the past. Live with me inside your heart; let our memories last. Seasons, they will come and go; the memories may fade. But I am with you in times of neednever be afraid. So raise a glass in times of doubt, each and every year. I may be gone in person, but my eternal spirit’s near. Smile the way I remember; play my favourite song. Just don’t be down, for I am here even though I’m gone.#poem #poetry #life #death
