Streets Of Home (Poem)

Streets Of Home (Poem)

Walking through the darkened streets
Where time stands still
Some things have gone forever
But memories still send a chill

The schools are now replaced
But the lane still remains
The fields where we played those years
Sends blood pumping in the veins

Some faces look familiar
Others have aged like weathered oak
Yet the bond we created those years ago
Can never be destroyed or broken

Some friends have left us now
We walk past where we once played
Sometimes the paths take us other ways
I think we all have strayed

No matter if we never left
Or moved so far away
The streets that made us who we are
Remain to this day.
