Each year to me is like a fight. I know that sounds a little strange, but I remember hearing a line from one of the Rocky movies “Nothing hits harder than life”. I thought about the meaning of this and realised that regardless of how we start the year with expectations and dreams, there will always be things that derail our hopes and aspirations.
Life is a never ending roller coaster of a journey, and as we enter 2014 there will be moments of ups, there will moments of downs. We will cling to it like our lives depended on it. The past 3-4 years I have fought for all the success I have earned, sacrificed much to have the life that I have worked hard and strived towards. 2014 will be no different from 2013, yet as the eyes of one opponent close, the sparkle of the next challenge awaits.
I wipe the blood from my cuts, stare back into the eyes of that challenge and beckon it forward. Come on 2014, bring it! You know I’m waiting!
