Silence Follows The Night

Silence Follows The Night

In a home where voices rise and fall,
Amidst the shouts, the cries, the brawls,
Where words like daggers pierce the air,
And hearts are heavy with despair.

Yet in this chaos, I stand alone,
With thoughts that chill me to the bone:
One day these voices will be gone,
Silence to replace the dawn.

The laughter, tears, and angry yells,
The love that rings those Christmas Bells,
Will fade away, like stars at day,
Leaving regrets that cannot fade away

So when the anger flares and burns,
And to their corners each one turns,
I close my eyes and try to see,
The quiet house that soon will be.

No more the clatter of lively feet,
Or voices arguing in the street,
Just echoes of a time before,
When love was loud and so much more.

In this thought, there’s sorrow, yes,
But also a strange kind of bliss,
For in the silence, loud and clear,
The memories will draw near.

And though today we disagree,
One day gone, we all will be,
So cherish now the noise, the fight,
For silence follows the night.
