Raindrop on fire (Poem)

Raindrop on fire (Poem)

The day feels so familiar

Appointments fade to grey

Counting down the hours

Till work fades away

Dreams of beaches wandered

In some distant land

They warm the heart inside

At the train stop where I stand

A life so full of routine

Planned down to every hour

Upon those sandy footprints

You truly were in power

Another cup of coffee

A day of mindless greetings

Robotic hellos and goodbyes

Sandwich pointless meetings

Dare you be so different?

Stand out in the crowd

A carefree voice so unique

Every word is proud

Life is what you make it

Dreams are within reach

Be a rat amongst the pigeons

Or on your perfect beach

Shatter all objectives

Break the mould of life

Be who you were born to be

Slice boring with a knife

For when the time is over

And life is said and done

Will you be a boring raindrop?

Or forever ray of sun
