On With The Show - A poem about a performer who is On With The Show - A poem about a performer who is hurting inside yet goes on stage to entertain the crowd. Once the crowd is gone the performer returns unchanged.

I look into the mirror,

A reflection stares back at me.

I don't like what I see there,

Applying makeup for everyone to see.

The weight of life upon me,

All I see is the clown.

My eyes are drawn and heavy,

Red lips become a frown.

I hear the crowd is waiting,

So I shift in my chair.

I walk toward the curtains

An audience so unaware.

I step into the bright lights,

A ripple of applause.

I raise my hands to thank you,

Yet you don't know my inner war.

My set is automatic,

The laughter fills the air.

I'm the hero of the hour,

Yet inside, I just don't care.

The crowd leaves the building,

I return to the mirror once more.

Once again, I look inside,

With my heart upon the floor.

The Addiction From Within - A narrated poem based The Addiction From Within - A narrated poem based on being your own worst enemy and best friend

A stare into the mirror
I recognize what’s true
The makeup smudged in horror
Am I me, or you?

Eyes that saw a lifetime
Witnessed all I had to show
A heartbreak full of reason
Yet no place left to go

Addiction is the rope
That my head is wrapped around
I scream into the darkness
But there's no echo, no sound

Maybe I'm a victim?
Maybe I'm a curse?
Maybe I'm just a soul
With a chorus and no verse

Reflection of rejection
Can I change who I will be?
I guess smashing this mirror
Might bring shards of reality

Fist is raised and cocked
As I thrust it, full in flight
For my shards of addiction
Are broken on this night

Life's Ripples - A new poem about casting a stone Life's Ripples - A new poem about casting a stone into a lake, the water is disturbed then after a while, like the water, life returns to normal

Staring into the water,
Reflections they distort my face.
Lines echo those around my eyes;
I see into the ripples I now embrace.

Drop a pebble into the water;
The lines they reach the edge
An everlasting wave of hope
That on my heart I pledge.

The water returns to normal;
Calmness reflects upon the lake.
No longer broken nature,
Just the silence left to break.

For underneath the water,
Just like in my heart, there’s life.
The stone sinks to the bottom,
Devoid of pain and strife.

The stone remains forever
Until the next is cast
A collection of hopes and dreams
That in our hearts will last.

So take your stone and throw it,
Cast your wish upon the tide.
Remember it forever,
Until it can no longer hide.
