Last week I had a sneak look and play with the Ipad2. I have the original Ipad and wanted to take a look to see if the new Ipad2 was worth all the fuss and hype. I was impressed but not in awe as I was when the original was launched.
Whilst there have been many attempts to copy the Ipad I still believe that it is the best on the market. The improvements are welcome I was certainly not going to be one of those who lined up just to have an Ipad2 on the day of the launch.
I read today that it is likely that Apple will launch an Ipad3 around Christmas as well as the much hyped Iphone5. This has angered me as I’m starting to feel that Apple are moving away from what was once the focus on customer loyalty and instead just turning this into a money grabbing machine. It feels like when your favourite football team launches the brand new kit each season that you need to have the latest version.
Many of my friends are guilty of upgrading to the latest version just because it is the newest; hardly any of them look at what the phone can actually offer before they do. One for instance got his just for Facetime but almost a year on still has not used it.
With each new release, I am finding the advancements getting smaller each time, so it will be very interesting to see just exactly what the Ipad3 can bring, as well as the Iphone 5. Certainly there will always be those who stand in line regardless of what they are receiving as it is the “in thing” to do.
However, until Apple slow down with the releases then I am afraid I will not be one of them. Sony got it perfectly right with the PlayStation. They waited six years in-between each release and the impact was instant.
So come on Mr Jobs, slow it down a little!
