Echoes of Eddies

Echoes of Eddies

Back when we were younger,

The streets, they were our home.

We knew all of our neighbours,

Where we would freely roam.

Our bikes, they were our horses,

They took us everywhere.

Beneath the Bristol summer skies,

We were young and had no care.

Roaming through the fields and woods,

From sunlight to the dark.

No Instagram back then, dear friend,

Just graffiti in the park.

We had our secret places,

Where we played out visions in our mind.

A den of hidden treasures,

Memories that were one of a kind.

The bell rang for the last time,

We went our separate ways.

In the years, our paths would cross,

We would smile for those familiar days.

Some of us stayed silent,

Some of us are gone,

Yet the class of 1990,

Forever we stay strong.

The hairs, they grow much greyer,

Just like the winter skies.

Yet we’re not around forever,

Just like our childhood ties.

So, let’s toast to neon,

When it seemed a better day.

The gel may have left our lifetimes,

Hairspray has gone away.

We’re left with who we are,

And whom we have become.

Yet, the memories forged those years,

We will always be as one.
