Blood Fued (Poem)

Blood Fued (Poem)

Childhood memories I stil have

They live on in my head

The times we shared as family

Though most are sadly dead

Blood and kin are so strong

They saw us through the wars

Where people tried to break us

Yet we somehow slammed the doors

The years they slowly passed us

We saw each other less

Wishing Happy Birthday

Or a new baby’s success

Though we share the same blood

We don’t see eye to eye

Names we have in common

Yet it does not mean we cannot cry

I said some words in earnest

They really became harsh

The hands that held us up once

Now sunk into the marsh

The wounds they cut so deep

From the ones that wiped our tears

The arms that once protected

Now fill our hearts with fears

You cannot choose your family

But you can pick your friends

Sometimes reverse is better

When running round in bends

We used to smile together

With our annual greetings

Now we block each other

Avoid the deathly meetings

We were once together

But now it’s time to part

Forever tied in name

Yet the love it did depart

The years they move so quickly

Just like a ray of light

I’ll be just fine without you

My flame is now alight
