A place that won’t remain

A place that won’t remain

Another love song fills your head,

A chorus full of dreams.

My words of caution go unsaid,

Lost in your self-infatuated schemes.

You need me when you want me,

Drop me when you’re done.

Disappear in fields of love,

Return when you’re out of fun.

Friendships always guide you,

They guide you through the night.

Once you’ve vanished yet again,

You once again turn out the light.

Every time you crash back down to earth,

The time you are alone,

You remember just who I am,

As you call me on the phone.

Am I here just to be a pillar

When you want to declare your views of love?

The person who you soon forget

When your heart is soaring above.

But when the wound begins to mend,

And love’s sweet songbird calls anew,

Our friendship’s value you suspend,

Ignoring all I’ve done for you.

How long can I endure your game

Of being used then cast aside,

Only for you to return

When your partner starts to hide?

Perhaps it’s time to break this chain,

To leave this cycle of despair.

For friendship’s worth should not be stained

By love’s capricious, selfish snare.
