It’s Not My Time To Go (Poem)

It’s Not My Time To Go (Poem)

Am I living in the dream
Or is the dream inside?
I walk into the bright light
There is no place to hide.

I hear the rings of laughter,
Voices that sound so new,
Yet they are from a distant time
Now they call me too.

Shadows step towards me,
Familiar faces from the past;
Relatives and friends who passed away
They’re calling me at last.

They say the time has come
To reunite once more.
My time in life is over
Yet have I been here before?

The hand, it opens to take me,
Just like it did when I was young.
Yet I know there are still things to do,
Another song that must be sung.

So I smile and say, “Not just yet,”
For I still have things to do.
My eyes open back in the room
And all I see is you.
