When you look at love what do you see?
Such a hard question to answer I believe. The word love itself is so strong yet it can mean so many different things, a relationship, a kindred belonging, a desire, or a sense of enjoyment? So many equations all belonging to that one word.
Love is the fundamental emotion that only truly raises its meaning when an event happens to make us realize just how precious and effective it is. It’s an emotion that we forget, abuse and even deny ourselves yet throughout all this time it has always been inside us.
When a relationship begins the love is like a vast volcano. It is new, fierce, warm and exciting. The thought of the new person in your life consumes your daily activities and takes over your whole mind. Everything else pales into significance at the very thought of that one person. It is an emotion that sadly dies too quickly.
It is what I call the “Euphoric Phase”, usually the phase dies down once the normality of daily life rears its ugly head once more. You know how it is, the new things that you once found so refreshing become irritating and trivial. Yet we still stick with that person.
When routine development dilutes love it is only when an incident occurs that we are reminded of that love does it suddenly all come back to us? I think anyone would be a liar if they said that this was not the case.
These past few years I have lost those I have loved both friends, and, family and as always it is the guilt that surrounds us after they have gone that is the hardest to deal with. How many times have we said to ourselves “Why didn’t we make the peace”, so many questions yet so little time.
It is often these words that we carry with us, these words that seem to dilute the precise feelings we had for this person in the first place and this simply should never be the case.
Love is the most powerful emotion on earth, there will never be anything stronger. So why is it that we always are afraid to say it. Other emotions we express with so much freedom it is often within our nature to do it subliminally.
So this weekend just take a little time to express love to those around you. It will be for the good of everyone.
