Whispering Lanes - A poem about never forgetting where home is

The trees they whisper softly

Within the fields, I played

The river runs as always

Golden memories conveyed

Buildings torn and raised

Skyline unknown to eyes

Yet the old oak is still standing

Silhouette of sunset skies

This used to be my playground

Now I walk an older man

Back then the days were endless

We had no lifelong plan

No train to catch to work

Just being home before dark

No rules to live by back then

Our world, it was the park

The paint adorns the walls N

ames carved deep in the bark

Though the words are now so meaningless

They still leave their mark

Since then I’ve travelled far and wide

All corners of the earth

Yet no place will ever mean more to me

Than the place that saw my birth

And though the years have flown away

A part of me remains,

A child forever, running free

Within these whispering lanes.

Angel Of The Sun - New Poem

Before you came, the world was gray,
I wandered alone without a way,
A shadowed land where cold winds blew,
No star to follow, where darkness grew.

You appeared as a golden light,
An angel of the sun so bright.
I felt the warmth upon my skin,
The love and hope could now begin.

Your smile, it brings a timeless chime,
Mending wounds caused by time.
Shining in the dark of night,
Filling my world with golden light.

In your wings, love is found,
All my fears are now unbound.
A safety I have never known,
Love so deep, with seeds now sown.

An angel of the sun, you shine,
Your grace and love, a gift divine.
A rainbow in the storm I face,
Joined forever in an eternal embrace.

One of the most insane days ever.

1.Arrive at Gatwick
2.Board the plane
3.Get taken off an icy runway
4.Go Upstairs
5.Miss the connection flight
6.Open up the airport pub at 4am
7.Meet three random strangers
8.Spend almost 16 hours bonding
9.Have a replacement plane for just the four of us
10.Make friends for life

Twas The Night Before Christmas. A reminder that during this time of the year many are subject to domestic violence

‘Twas the night before Christmas,
When we children should dream
But all I can hear is Mummy’s loud scream.
Daddy is hitting her again and again
This year I hope
That the blood does not stain.
Not one of us kids
Dare make a sound,
For fear that Daddy’s violence
Would double and rebound.
We silently prayed
That Mummy would be okay,
And that somehow she would live
To see Christmas Day
So please Father Christmas,
Tell me if you got my list?
I want Mummy to be safe
From Daddy’s fist.
Can you bring me enough hope
So Mummy does not live in fear,
Let this be the last violent New Year.
Because I don’t want to wake up
On a cold Christmas Day,
To see Mummy in a coffin
Being taken away.
